Grandparents, Memories, and Life-Lessons

Do you remember a time when you went to your grandparents’ house and experienced something different than the daily normal? It could be something like fishing in the nearby pond, sitting on the back porch sharing stories of the ‘good old days’, or learning a family recipe from your grandmother in the kitchen. Learning from your grandparents, aunts, uncles -- odds are those are valuable memories that you still carry with you to this day.

As our children get older and technology takes on a larger presence in society, we need to take our children and our grandchildren back in time and allow them to spend some meaningful time with their grandparents and other adult family members. Don’t just push your children to the older adults. Spend time with them with your children. Possibly these family members have lived through situations that seem foreign to us and our personal life experience. However, they have some interesting and possibly wild stories and experiences we can learn from and might also help us to become better people as we move forward individually…
