Using Your Power for Good, Not Evil
It happens far more often than it should. Getting scammed. Unfortunately, with the powers of technology and the “masterminds” behind what it can do, we are getting scammed at a record high. For example, we may think that we are purchasing concert tickets from a reliable source, when in reality, we have unknowingly been redirected to a different website, and our hard-earned money is going into the “pockets” of a complete stranger in an unknown location.
This is a true story with an unexpected ending, so stay tuned. We arrived at a concert venue one and half hours away with what we thought were our tickets to the event. As we tried to use the access/use the tickets, we were told that these were not tickets at all. With the complete frustration and sadness of time, energy, and money being lost, we felt defeated. Just then, a wonderful staff worker, with dedication to her job, presented us with two new tickets that they were able to provide us. As we climbed the mountainous journey to our seats in the nosebleed section, I heard my name being called out. I looked up and saw two dear people who welcomed me into their home, broken bread with in the past, and enjoyed many holidays together. Our seats were right next to them, and we were able to catch up and enjoy the concert together!
Our experience which seemed to be a complete disaster because someone was using their powers for evil worked out for the better because one lady was using her powers for good by going above and beyond for people she didn’t even know -- doing her job to the best of her ability. It is so important that we take this lesson to heart in our everyday lives. One little kind gesture, one extra task being completed without being asked, and sometimes just having a positive attitude can make all the difference in the world to someone…
