Change Your Story

Whether we are aware of it or not, through our behavior or non participation, we have created how people perceive us to be. It could be how we may have acted in the past, things we may have said, or the promises that we did or did not keep. Either way, by our own actions or non actions, we have created a history of how individuals think of us when they hear our name being spoken.

No one enjoys being thought about negatively; however, it might happen more often than we realize based on our past encounters with individuals. The good news is that it is never too late to make good on our past mistakes. It will surely take time and many positive interactions. Those relationships may never truly heal, but the story may change toward a more positive outcome.

Word of mouth is a highly effective form of communication. Once someone has “been done wrong” by a business, colleague, or a friend, they tend to communicate that information to others around them. They don’t want others to be wronged by that same business or a specific person or circumstance based on past experiences. However, if that business or person can make noticeable consistent changes, stepping up when needed, make the extra effort to go above and beyond to change the way people think about them; then others might be persuaded to a more positive view and possible work toward renewed trust…
