Parents Then vs. Parents Now
Do you ever remember when you were younger, and you wanted to go outside and play with your friends? It was a time when your parents would insist that you take your bike, or go play, and be home when the streetlights came on. There were no cell phones or any way to get in touch with you, however parents didn’t worry about you coming home for dinner. You just did.
There is a reason behind that sense of security for both parents and children. During my days growing up, we were known as “latch key” kids. These children came home from school when parents were still at work, had to let ourselves into the house, make our own after-school snacks, and make sure that we started our homework by ourselves without parental supervision. We knew the rules that were set before us, and we followed them….
