Rekindle the Art of Conversation Within Our Children

Have you ever had a conversation with someone, especially a child and the responses tend to be either one-word answers, a shoulder shrug, or the infamous “I don’t know”. It makes it very challenging to continue with the attempted conversation when it’s mainly one-sided. The reason behind that frustration might be because we’re not asking the right kind of questions.

With the use of technology increasing among the younger generation, our children are missing out on learning and practicing the art of conversation and human interaction. Not only that, but parents and grandparents are doing the talking for their children in social situations when their child is asked a question instead of allowing and encouraging them to speak for themselves. By doing this, we are actually doing our children a disservice by not letting them practice their communication skills with people they might not see on a regular basis…
