The Impact We Have on Children

Did you ever have a teacher growing up that really stuck out to you? They either made that extra effort, went the extra mile, or took the extra time to make sure you understood the task at hand. They made you feel special, deserving, and capable of accomplishing whatever you wanted to do.

For me, the teacher in school who had the greatest impact on my life was my Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Flinn . Most people might say it was a teacher or a coach in high school for them, but as the child’s mind is such a sponge during the early years of life, Mrs. Flinn put in that much needed extra effort that this particular mind needed. She was always kind and empathic to each one of her students and made all of us feel special. Her creativity led us to putting on a circus in the gym, having dinosaur digs in kiddie pools filled with sand in front of the school, and she even invited us to her house to participate in her own children’s birthday party with pony rides in the back yard. It made us feel as if we were extension of her own family…
