Sometimes the Biggest Gifts Come in Small Packages

On days when your plans were cancelled unexpectedly or you may have felt a little down, what did you decide to do instead? Did you feel frustrated and made the choice to stay at home, or did you decide to do something different? When these things happen, sometimes it can be a gift in disguise opening your options to mixing things up a little bit!

As adults we often look at things we wish we had the chance to do! We could get out and enjoy these beautiful experiences if we would just take a moment to do it. When we have these cancelled plans or down days, they could be a wide-open opportunity to step outside of our comfort zone and bless someone else. We can make an unplanned trip to the store and demonstrate kindness to someone else by helping them get a parking space closer to the store. We can volunteer at a homeless shelter or a dog shelter with our time and make what could have been a bad or sad experience into a meaningful and delightful one!

The smallest acts of kindness can truly take someone else’s bad day, turn it around and give them a better outlook on life. We must remember to do these small acts with our children. Sometimes, a positive listening ear and to know that someone cares about what they are going through is all they need instead of a Barbie Dream House or a brand-new dirt bike. Kiddos need their parent to show up and be the person they can rely on each day…
